Florence + The Machine’s Everybody Scream is not an album that whispers its truths — it howls them. Released on October 31 via Polydor Records, the band’s sixth studio project arrives perfectly timed for Halloween, yet its ghosts are not supernatural ones. Instead, they’re the emotional echoes of pain, healing, and transformation that Florence Welch confronts after a near-death experience. Following 2022’s Dance Fever, this record feels like both a purge and a resurrection.

Thematically, Everybody Scream continues Welch’s fascination with ritual, mysticism, and the body’s fragility. Working closely with Idles guitarist Mark Bowen, Welch injects a post-punk grit into her baroque-pop universe, replacing the golden sheen of Dance Fever with something earthier and more unrestrained. The result is a collection that feels musically haunted, yet brought vividly to life by Welch’s vocals.

While the title track and the six-minute “One of the Greats” emerge as standouts, not every track lands with the same force. A few mid-album cuts, like “Perfume and Milk” and “Witch Dance,” linger more as mood pieces than fully realized songs. Yet even in its slower moments, Everybody Scream maintains the band’s signature cohesion and precision.
