Gracie Abrams opens the summer season with her gentle vocals and reflective lyrics in her new album “The Secret of Us.” The album arrives just a year after her critically acclaimed debut “Good Riddance,” which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. In a year where she opened for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, as well as committed to her own headlining tour, Gracie couldn’t resist doing what she loves most: writing. As a result, the 24-year-old singer/songwriter penned 13 new songs, offering fans the perfect follow-up to “Good Riddance.” Her sophomore album is supported by two singles: “Risk” and “Close to You.” The latter has been in store for seven years, as the Grammy-nominated singer revealed that a first demo was recorded in 2017, when she was 17.
As mentioned above, “The Secret of Us” comprises 13 songs, all penned by Gracie herself, with Aaron Dessner, Audrey Hobert, Taylor Swift, and Sam de Jong credited as co-writers. Dessner also handled the production of all the songs, except for “Close to You.” Notably, Taylor’s longtime collaborator and friend Jack Antonoff co-produced “Us,” in which Taylor is featured.
In support of this new album, Gracie has announced a North American tour, kicking off in September. Additionally, it’s worth staying tuned because Gracie teased a possible deluxe edition in an interview with Billboard. For now, enjoy her sophomore album, and below you can find InMusic’s ranking of all the songs on the LP.
