With Before I Forget, The Kid LAROI steps into his most emotionally exposed chapter yet. The 22-year-old Australian star, long associated with melodic pop-rap confessionals and chart-friendly hooks, noticeably slows the pace and strips away much of the bravado that defined his earlier work. This album does not chase radio momentum or viral moments. Instead, it leans inward, shaped by nostalgia, reflection, and the quiet aftermath of a very public breakup with Tate McRae. Across 15 tracks, LAROI sounds less interested in proving anything and more focused on saying what still lingers, even when it hurts.
Released via Columbia Records, Before I Forget arrives two years after The First Time and feels deliberately heavier in emotional weight. Introduced by the singles “A Cold Play,” “A Perfect World,” and “Back When You Were Mine,” the album trades his signature pop-rap urgency for softer R&B textures and alt-pop restraint, allowing space for vulnerability to lead the narrative. Regret, emotional detachment, longing, and unresolved love surface repeatedly.
Not every moment lands with equal force. While tracks like “Rather Be” and “I’m So In Love With You” cut deep, capturing the ache of wanting someone you can no longer reach, other songs struggle to leave a lasting impression. Cuts such as “Come Down” and “Her Interlude” rank among the weakest tracks on Before I Forget.
