Another packed New Music Friday has arrived. From major album releases to highly anticipated singles, Friday, August 21, offers fresh music spanning pop, indie rock, country, R&B and K-pop favorites.

Leading this week’s lineup is Sam Smith, who returns with their fifth studio album, Hazel Eyes. Released through Capitol Records, the 12-track project marks Smith’s first full-length album since 2023’s Gloria. Co-produced alongside Simon Aldred and David Odlum, Hazel Eyes shifts toward a more intimate sound after the dance-driven success of “Unholy.” The record features collaborations with Feist, Rob Moose and Shahzad Ismaily, while previously released songs including “My Guy,” “When He’s Gone,” “Oh Mother,” “To Be Free,” and “Love Is a Stillness” have already introduced fans to its reflective themes of love and personal growth.

Another artist making a major statement this week is Stella Lefty, who releases her debut album Long Way Home. The Illinois singer-songwriter enjoyed a breakout year following the viral success of “Boston,” which reached the Billboard Hot 100’s top 20. After building momentum with her Is This Heaven? EP, Lefty now delivers a full-length collection blending country and pop influences.

Indie favorite beabadoobee continues the rollout for her upcoming album Pylon with the new single “Memories.” The dreamy, bittersweet track follows “Sun Has Set” and “Switchblade” ahead of the album’s September 18 release.

Meanwhile, Mariah Carey launches the long-awaited 25th anniversary celebration of Glitter with a reimagined version of “Didn’t Mean To Turn You On” featuring Rochelle Jordan. Produced by KLSH, the collaboration serves as the first taste of the upcoming deluxe edition of Glitter, scheduled for October 30 with 15 previously unreleased vault tracks and the soundtrack’s first vinyl pressing since 2001.

Noteworthy releases also come from ENHYPEN, Carly Rae Jepsen, Central Cee, Lizzy McAlpine, Coco Jones, Polo G, Jorja Smith, Brandon Flowers, and more.

One response to “New Music Friday: Sam Smith, Stella Lefty, beabadoobee, ENHYPEN, and More!”

  1. Sometimes the deepest heartbreak is accepting that you can love someone with everything in you, and they still may not choose to stay. Their decision to let you go does not define your worth. You can miss them, love them, and still understand that you deserve a love that does not leave you questioning whether you are worth fighting for. Sometimes losing them is simply making room for someone who chooses you back.
