Cardi B is showing public support for KATSEYE after the group’s new song, “Hootie Frutti,” sparked mixed reactions online. During a recent Instagram Live, the Grammy-winning rapper dismissed the criticism surrounding the track, making it clear that it has become a favorite in her household.

“Y’all hating on the song [but] we love the song,” Cardi said while speaking to viewers. She revealed that both her daughter Kulture and Blossom have been listening to the song alongside her, before singing portions of the track and recreating some of its choreography. Cardi also shared clips of the family watching KATSEYE’s colorful music video together, giving the HYBE x Geffen group another endorsement from the rapper.

Released on August 14 as part of KATSEYE’s third EP, WILD, “Hootie Frutti” has quickly become one of the project’s most talked-about songs. Built around Brazilian-inspired production, Portuguese opening lyrics, and playful fruit-themed metaphors, the track has divided listeners across social media. While some fans have praised its infectious energy and bold concept, others have criticized both the song and its vibrant visual direction.

Cardi’s comments mark the second time this year she has publicly supported KATSEYE. Back in June 2026, she attended the group’s Governors Ball performance in New York with Kulture, where she was spotted dancing, singing along, and later meeting the members backstage.

Now, KATSEYE are enjoying the success that has followed their rapid ascent. The group’s first theatrical documentary, KATSEYE: Wild Hearts, recently opened at No. 5 at the U.S. box office with an estimated $3.95 million, while early projections from Hits Daily Double have WILD debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 169,000 equivalent album units.

Commercial momentum has extended across streaming platforms as well. WILD generated approximately 10.75 million first-day Global Spotify streams, setting a new career high for the group. Every song from the EP entered Spotify’s Daily Global chart, with “Hootie Frutti” debuting at No. 12 with 2.97 million streams, making it KATSEYE’s third-highest-charting song on the platform.
