That beat might sound familiar—in fact, the chorus of “Mystical Magical” features a sample of Olivia Newton-John’s iconic hit “Physical,” originally released in 1981 as a single from her eleventh studio album of the same name.

Benson Boone’s “Mystical Magical” isn’t the first track to reference Olivia’s classic. Back in 2021, Doja Cat and SZA dominated the charts and airwaves with “Kiss Me More,” which interpolates the melody of “Physical” in its chorus.
As for Boone, the Grammy-nominated rising star is gearing up to release his sophomore album, American Heart. Prior to “Mystical Magical,” he dropped “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else” as the lead single. More music is on the way—Boone recently debuted the title track, “Young American Heart,” at Coachella. The album, set for release on June 6, leans into nostalgic sounds. Boone revealed that he aimed to bring “a little more of a retro vibe,” drawing inspiration from Bruce Springsteen and the Americana music genre.
