With just 10 songs, the LP ranks among the most listened-to albums of the year, featuring several fan favorites. However, one track almost didn’t make it into the album. Billie revealed that she wasn’t convinced by several aspects of the song.

Billie Eilish has revealed that “Birds of a Feather” was almost cut from the final tracklist. The Grammy-winning singer explained that everything from the lyrics to the production was changed multiple times during the recording sessions, and she wasn’t happy with the sound. “We changed so many things—lyrics, production—and never got it to sound right,” she said in a recent interview. “So we took a moment and decided to come back to how it originally was.”
“Birds of a Feather” is now the most successful song from Hit Me Hard and Soft. It has spent a total of 25 days atop the Daily Global Spotify Chart, standing as the longest-running No. 1 of the year so far. In the U.S., the song just spent its second consecutive week at its peak of No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, while topping the Billboard Global 200 chart for a third week. Additionally, “Birds of a Feather” has already achieved RIAA Platinum certification for selling 1 million units in the U.S. What would have happened if the song had been left out of Hit Me Hard and Soft? Thankfully, we will never know!
