Titled “Hit Me Hard And Soft,” Billie Eilish’s new album will be released very soon, on May 17th. “So crazy to be writing this right now, I’m nervous and excited,” she announced. Just like “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” and “Happier Than Ever,” the project will be entirely produced by Finneas. “Finneas and I truly could not be more proud of this album, and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it.” The album will feature only 10 songs, with “Skinny” being the opening track and “Blue” the final. Furthermore, a snippet of one of the tracks has been shared on Spotify. However, Eilish revealed that the album will not be preceded by any single. “I wanna give it to you all at once.”
According to the album’s press release, the title reflects what the project will be, hitting the listeners hard and soft, and bending multiple genres.
As it can be read on the official website, for the new album, there will be only eight variants of vinyl, all produced with the most sustainable practices available. The standard black variant is 100% made from recycled black vinyl. Additionally, a limited number of CDs painted by Eilish herself with splatter paint will be released. She also launched the “Hit Me Hard And Soft” merch, available on the official website.
It’s been almost three years since Eilish released her sophomore album “Happier Than Ever.” The Grammy-nominated record was released in summer 2021 and spawned seven singles, including “Your Power” and “Lost Cause.” That year, the singer started hinting at a third project, revealing that she was formulating ideas for new songs. A few months later, Eilish, then 19, embarked on the Happier Than Ever Tour, visiting North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America, totaling 88 shows. Fast forward to September 2023, the “Bad Guy” musician left fans in awe while performing at the Music Midtown. “I will see you after the next album comes out,” she exclaimed. She then continued to tease the project in the following months, and today the announcement of her third album has finally arrived!
