2024 has been an exciting year for rising female pop artists, and even pop star Camila Cabello has taken notice. On September 30th, the “Havana” singer appeared on BBC Radio 1, where she praised the current state of pop music, specifically highlighting Charli XCX’s latest album BRAT and giving a shoutout to rising stars Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. “It’s such an exciting time for pop,” Camila said. “With albums like BRAT and the work Chappell and Sabrina are doing, it feels like the genre is evolving in such cool ways.” During her radio appearance, she also treated listeners to a cover of Addison Rae’s viral hit “Diet Pepsi,” along with performances of “June Gloom” and “Godspeed” from her own new album C,XOXO, as well as her hit “Never Be The Same.”

Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan have dominated the summer with their respective albums—BRAT, Short n’ Sweet, and The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. But Camila also made waves with her fourth studio album, C,XOXO, a refreshing and experimental mix of hip-hop, avant-pop, and alt-pop. Featuring hit singles like “I Luv It” ft. Playboi Carti and “He Knows” ft. Lil Nas X, as well as collaborations with Drake, JT, and Yung Miami, the album marked a creative shift for Camila. She recently dropped an expanded edition of the album, titled Magic City, on August 29th, and fans can look forward to her upcoming tour, though official dates have yet to be announced. “I’ll see the rest of you soon,” Camila recently teased.
