Miley Cyrus returned to the stage on October 16, for the first of two sold-out headlining shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, marking her first proper concerts in years and her debut at the iconic venue. Performing as Miley, the singer celebrated her tenth studio album, Bass Persuades, with a nearly two-hour set that combined new material, deep cuts, career-defining hits and an emotional tribute to her late godmother, Dolly Parton.
The demand for the two performances was enormous, with nearly 1.5 million people entering presale queues despite the venue’s capacity of approximately 17,500 to 18,000. Both dates sold out quickly, underscoring the interest surrounding Miley Cyrus’ return to live performance after years of avoiding traditional touring. She has previously spoken about prioritizing routine and stability following her sobriety in 2020, explaining her preference for remaining in one place rather than committing to an extended tour.

The Hollywood Bowl shows offered a different way to introduce her new era to audiences. Released September 18 through Atlantic Records, Bass Persuades is Miley’s first album since leaving Columbia Records and the first credited simply to Miley. The record follows 2025’s Something Beautiful and explores nocturnal pop, dance-punk and more personal songwriting, with production contributions from Kid Harpoon and Brooklyn band Model/Actriz.
Commercially, the album made an immediate impact in the United States. Bass Persuades debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated October 3, earning 61,000 equivalent album units. The achievement marked Cyrus’ first chart-topping album since Bangerz in 2013 and her sixth No. 1 overall.
At the Hollywood Bowl, Miley Cyrus opened with a run of new songs, including “Orbit,” “Different Religion” and “Bass Persuades,” before moving between material from the new album, Something Beautiful and earlier releases. Model/Actriz joined her for “Different Religion,” while Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne appeared for “Do You Realize??” and “Karen Don’t Be Sad.”
One of the night’s most emotional moments came during “Jolene,” which Cyrus dedicated to Parton, who died in August. Fighting back tears, she described their connection as eternal and recalled watching her godmother perform at the Hollywood Bowl from the audience.
