The Path to Can’t Rush Greatness

Central Cee is undoubtedly one of the UK’s most popular rappers. Over the past few years, he has dominated global charts and streaming platforms with his mixtapes Wild West and 23, as well as hit singles like the global smash “Doja.” The 26-year-old rapper has spent the last two years tirelessly crafting his debut album, which features beats from several producers, including his longtime collaborator Dave.

In a recent interview with Dazed, Central Cee revealed that his debut album marks a departure from his earlier work and reflects his growth as an artist. “With the mixtapes, I was living in the house I grew up in. Now we’ve elevated; we’re actually musicians,” he shared. “I was just a guy that [went into the] studio [sometimes]. Now, I’m an artist.”

Three singles have preceded the album: “Band4Band” (with Lil Baby), “Gen Z Luv,” and “GBP” (with 21 Savage). Band4Band achieved massive success, peaking at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the top three on the UK Singles Chart.
