The 31st Critics’ Choice Awards are set to take place tonight, January 4, at the Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport in Santa Monica, California. The annual ceremony honors the most outstanding achievements in film and television released throughout 2025. Broadcast live on E! and USA Network, the show will once again be hosted by Chelsea Handler, marking her fourth consecutive year as emcee. Who are the nominees?
This year’s film race is dominated by Sinners, which leads all contenders with a remarkable 17 nominations, just one shy of the all-time Critics’ Choice record set by Barbie. Ryan Coogler’s genre-bending vampire blues drama is nominated for Best Picture and shows strength across nearly every category. Michael B. Jordan is recognized in Best Actor, while Wunmi Mosaku earns a nod for Best Supporting Actress and Miles Caton is nominated for Best Young Actor/Actress. Coogler is also honored in Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Close behind is One Battle After Another, which secured 14 nominations, positioning it as a major challenger in several key races.
On the television side, Adolescence emerges as the most-nominated series of the year with six nominations, including Best Limited Series. Nobody Wants This follows with five nominations.
The Best Song category is notably competitive and music-forward. Ed Sheeran leads the field with “Drive,” a high-energy track from Apple’s F1, co-written with John Mayer and Blake Slatkin and powered by Dave Grohl on drums. HUNTRX score a nomination for “Golden” from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters. From Sinners, Raphael Saadiq and Ludwig Göransson earn recognition for “I Lied to You,” a haunting fusion of blues, gospel, and orchestral textures performed by Miles Caton. Daniel Blumberg’s “Clothed by the Sun” from The Testament of Ann Lee brings spiritual weight to the category, while Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner are nominated for “Train Dreams.” Rounding out the lineup is Ariana Grande, whose performance of “The Girl in the Bubble” from Wicked: For Good is also nominated.
