The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its Class of 2026, locking in a wide-ranging group of icons while leaving one of pop’s most dominant figures on the outside once again. Announced April 13, this year’s inductees include Wu-Tang Clan, Oasis, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division / New Order, Sade and Luther Vandross.

For Oasis, the honor arrives after years of eligibility and multiple nominations, amplified by the band’s 2025 reunion tour that reignited global interest in their catalog. Wu-Tang Clan earns induction on its first ballot appearance, a recognition of the collective’s seismic influence on hip-hop since the 1990s. Phil Collins returns as a solo artist after his 2010 induction with Genesis, while Iron Maiden and Billy Idol finally cross the threshold following repeated nods.

The conversation, however, quickly shifted to who didn’t make it. Mariah Carey was passed over for the third consecutive year despite her record-breaking commercial achievements, including 19 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits and the enduring dominance of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

Other notable snubs include Lauryn Hill, P!nk, Shakira and Jeff Buckley, all of whom were part of the 17-artist ballot announced on February 25. That list blended first-time nominees with returning contenders. Voting was conducted by more than 1,200 artists, historians and industry professionals, with a fan ballot contributing a single aggregated vote.

The 2026 induction ceremony is scheduled for November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where this eclectic class will be formally honored.
