Saturday Night Live kicked off its 51st season on NBC with a mix of humor, history, and high-voltage pop. The October 4 premiere featured Bad Bunny as host and Doja Cat as the musical guest — marking her first-ever appearance on the show.
The Grammy-winning artist took the Studio 8H stage to perform two standout tracks from her new album Vie: the synth-heavy “AAAHH MEN!” and the sleek, romantic “Gorgeous.” Both performances showcased the pop star’s creative evolution, spotlighting her new ‘80s-inspired sound and her flair for bold, visual storytelling.

For her debut number, “AAAHH MEN!”, Doja performed atop a set designed like a surreal garden of giant red flower petals, giving the illusion that she was blooming from the stage itself. She returned later in the show for “Gorgeous,” a lush, mid-tempo ballad that highlighted her vocals over a shimmering electronic arrangement. Backed by a live band and glowing pink lights, Doja traded her usual swagger for poise and restraint.
Doja’s SNL debut comes just a week after the release of her fifth studio album, Vie, which dropped on September 26. The record marks a major stylistic shift for the artist, blending retro pop textures with polished, dance-driven production.
Meanwhile, host Bad Bunny handled comedy duties — including a sketch poking fun at media reactions to his upcoming Super Bowl halftime show.
The episode also marked the start of a reshaped SNL cast for Season 51, with several new featured players joining veterans like Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, and Chloe Fineman.
Looking ahead, Doja Cat will continue promoting Vie through her Tour Ma Vie World Tour, launching November 18 in Auckland, New Zealand. The tour spans five continents, with North American dates running through late 2026.
