Dua Lipa is marking a major milestone in her career. The global pop superstar took to social media to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her breakout single “Be The One,” reflecting on the decade that turned her from a promising newcomer into one of pop’s most influential artists.

“10 YEARS OF BE THE ONE!!!!! Can’t believe it’s been a whole decade since this song found its way into the world,” she wrote. “You guys turned it into something so much bigger than I ever imagined. From tiny shows to massive crowds singing every word back to me… you’ve been there through it all, and I’m forever grateful.”

Released digitally on October 30, 2015, “Be The One” was the first song to put Dua Lipa on the international radar. Written by Lucy Taylor, Jack Tarrant, and Digital Farm Animals, the synth-pop anthem was originally intended for another artist. Yet it was Lipa’s distinctive tone and emotional delivery that transformed it into a career-defining hit. At the time, she was still an emerging artist, performing in small venues and gaining traction on music blogs.

Initially, “Be The One” received little attention in the UK and the US. But after German radio stations picked it up, the track became a sleeper hit across Europe in 2016. Its success was organic and unstoppable — it topped charts in Belgium, reached the top ten in nine countries, and earned multi-platinum certifications across several territories, including double platinum in Italy and the UK. By the time it entered the UK Top 10 in early 2017, Dua Lipa had already secured her first major breakthrough, paving the way for a remarkable career. The following years saw Dua Lipa become an unstoppable powerhouse — from her self-titled debut album to 2020’s Future Nostalgia and her 2024 release Radical Optimism.

Today, “Be The One” stands not just as Dua Lipa’s first hit but as a symbol of persistence and transformation. Ten years later, Dua Lipa truly became the one.
