In a nail-biting race to the top, Sabrina Carpenter edged out Travis Scott to claim her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. The 25-year-old singer’s “Short n’ Sweet” debuted at the top of the chart this week, with the results delayed two days due to the Labor Day holiday and the tight competition between the two albums. This achievement marks a significant milestone in Sabrina’s career, not only for topping the chart but also for moving an impressive 362,000 units in its first week. This is a huge leap from her previous album, “Emails I Can’t Send,” which debuted at No. 23 with just 18,000 units. But despite Sabrina’s massive success, Travis Scott came incredibly close to denying her the top spot.

“Short n’ Sweet” sold 362,000 equivalent album units in its opening week, while Billboard reported that Travis Scott’s “Days Before Rodeo” debuted with 361,000 units—just 600 units shy of Sabrina’s total. Both artists pushed their numbers higher by releasing new versions of their albums before the week ended. Although Sabrina earned the third biggest week of the year, behind only Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” and Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter,” Travis scored the biggest week for a rap album this year, surpassing Eminem’s “The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe de Grâce).”
On the Billboard Hot 100, Sabrina made an even bigger splash by placing all 12 tracks from “Short n’ Sweet” on the chart. “Taste” debuted at No. 2, with “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” being No. 3 and No. 4 respectively, making her one of the few female artists—alongside Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift—to simultaneously hold three spots in the top five.
