Speculation surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day has reached a new level after Olivia Rodrigo’s music appeared in the film’s latest teaser. While neither Sony nor Marvel has confirmed her involvement beyond the promotional clip, fans are increasingly convinced the singer could have an original song on the soundtrack.
The latest teaser, released on July 24, pairs new footage of Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker with Rodrigo’s new song “Stupid Song,” the third single from her chart-topping third studio album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Official Spider-Man social media accounts also encouraged fans to stream the track, writing, “Listen to @Olivia Rodrigo’s new song ‘Stupid Song,’ out now,” immediately fueling theories across social media.
The timing has only intensified the conversation. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, arrives in theaters on July 31, 2026, meaning Marvel’s promotional campaign is entering its final stretch. Using one of Olivia Rodrigo’s newest songs in a major trailer has led many fans to believe her involvement extends beyond marketing, with some speculating she recorded an exclusive track for the film.
Those rumors have been circulating for weeks. During a livestream in June, Rodrigo and longtime collaborator Dan Nigro revealed they had written an unreleased song that Nigro described as his favorite song they had ever created together. Shortly afterward, fans noticed several similarities between Marvel’s promotional posts and Rodrigo’s album visuals, sparking theories that the mystery track was destined for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The newest teaser has only strengthened those discussions. Hashtags such as #Spideylivia have gained momentum on X/Twitter.
Still, there is one important detail: no official announcement has confirmed that Olivia Rodrigo appears on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day soundtrack. At this stage, the teaser simply uses an existing song from her new album, and neither Sony Pictures, Marvel Studios, nor Rodrigo’s team has revealed a soundtrack lineup.
Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo is enjoying one of the biggest eras of her career. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, released on June 12, debuted at No. 1 in the United States, the United Kingdom, and more than 20 countries worldwide. The project produced the chart-topping hit “Drop Dead,” as well as hit singles “The Cure,” and “Stupid Song,” which continues to gain momentum ahead of her Unraveled Tour beginning in September.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day only days away from its theatrical debut, fans likely won’t have to wait much longer to learn whether the teaser was simply clever promotion—or the first clue that Olivia Rodrigo is about to add a Marvel soundtrack to her résumé.
