Lorde has shared another taste of her upcoming album Virgin with the third single, “Hammer.” Arriving just a week before the album’s release, the track is positioned as the LP’s opener and has been released alongside a music video. Shortly after the song’s debut, in a striking and poetic statement, Lorde described “Hammer” using rich, vivid imagery:
“MAGIC JEWELRY. NINE MOONS. LARRY THE PIGEON MAN. FLIRTING WITH THE GUY AT MNZ. OVULATION. CRISP SPRING SUN. IMMENSE GRATITUDE TO BE ALIVE. BRAIDING WITH LANGUAGE. BUDDY’S GRANULAR SYNTH. Lorde’s upcoming studio album, Virgin, marks her return after a four-year hiatus since Solar Power (2021). The 11-track project is a bold, introspective exploration of identity, femininity, and emotional transparency. Before “Hammer,” the New Zealand native released two singles: “What Was That” and “Man of the Year.”
In support of the album, Lorde will embark on the Ultrasound World Tour, launching in September 2025 across North America and Europe. The tour will feature opening acts like Blood Orange, Jim‑E Stack, Nilüfer Yanya, and The Japanese House.
