Melanie Martinez has revealed that she broke a bone in her foot just days before she is scheduled to return to the stage in Europe. The singer shared the update on Instagram, posting a photo of herself wearing a black medical boot on her right foot while reassuring fans that the shows will still go ahead.
“well I managed to break a bone in my foot,” Melanie Martinez wrote in the Instagram Story. She explained that the injury happened in an unusually mundane accident: “I just sat down with my leg tucked under me too fast and it bent and broke.”

Despite the injury, Martinez confirmed that she plans to perform. “but the show must go on,” she continued, explaining that she may have to remain seated rather than move around the stage as she normally would.
The singer specifically addressed fans attending the upcoming dates, writing: “If I’m sitting and not running around on stage this is why Amsterdam, London, Manchester x see you soon and will do my absolute best for you.” The update comes only days before the European run is scheduled to begin.
Martinez wrapped the North American leg of the Hades: The Sacrifice arena tour with a performance at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on August 14. The tour is set to resume September 9 in Amsterdam, with the currently planned European run also including London and Manchester dates.
The European schedule has already undergone significant changes. On July 30, Melanie Martinez explained that several European dates had been canceled because of circumstances outside her control, stressing that the decisions were not made on a whim. She also said that she hopes to continue touring Hades and its upcoming companion album, Elysium, for as long as her body and logistics allow, with ambitions to remain on the road through 2027.
Martinez is also approaching a new chapter in the Hades era. The singer revealed in an August 15 interview with V Magazine that Elysium is still being refined, despite being close to completion. She said she had already replaced three songs and was attempting to replace one more, leaving the album with one final addition before she considers it finished.
Elysium is designed as the utopian counterpart to Hades, shifting away from the darker themes of its predecessor toward hope, healing, nature, love and human connection. Martinez has described the music as “light and sweet and airy” and said the project feels “like a breath of fresh air.”
