Melanie Martinez has officially revealed the title of the second half of her ambitious double-album project. During an appearance on the TODAY show, the singer confirmed that the follow-up to Hades will be titled Elysium, marking the first time she has publicly shared the name.
While discussing Hades as the opening chapter of a larger concept, Martinez surprised the audience by deciding to unveil the title herself. “I haven’t said the name yet, but maybe I’ll say it now,” she said before teasing the crowd. She then confirmed, “The second album is called Elysium and that’s all I’ll say. But it’s a utopian record. So it’s the other part. It’s the counterpart.”
The announcement expands on comments Martinez has made throughout 2026 about the scope of the project. Ahead of Hades’ release, she revealed that her fourth studio album was only one half of a larger artistic vision, with the companion record exploring the opposite thematic direction.
Back in March, Martinez told And The Writer Is that Hades represented the dystopian side of the story while a separate utopian album would follow later. One day afterward, during an appearance on Unfamous with Justin Tranter, she confirmed that both albums had already been completed.
“They’re done. There might be a couple little tweaks,” Martinez said at the time, adding, “Yeah, we might add some last-minute ones to the utopian one now that we have some time.” Those comments suggested the second project was already in its final stages despite remaining without a release date.
Released on March 27 through Atlantic Records, Hades debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and introduced fans to the darker half of Martinez’s dual-album narrative. The campaign included the singles “Possession,” “Disney Princess,” “Uncanny Valley,” and “The Vatican,” while also launching the upcoming Hades: The Sacrifice arena tour, scheduled to run across the United States and Europe between July and September.
