Miley Cyrus is ready to return with what is arguably her most ambitious project to date. Her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, drops tonight, offering fans a complete creative statement that Cyrus herself describes as a “hypnotic concept album” designed to “medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.” Just days ago, she previewed this vision during an intimate performance at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. As the release approaches, here’s everything you need to know to get ready for Something Beautiful.

Background

Following the success of her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation—especially the massive hit “Flowers”—Miley set out to explore new creative territory: a visual album. Spanning 13 tracks, Something Beautiful blends pop, rock, disco, funk, and electronic influences, seamlessly moving through styles while maintaining a deeply emotional core.

The album opens with “Prelude,” a spoken-word piece layered over electronic textures. The title track, “Something Beautiful,” shifts from alternative R&B into psychedelic rock, showcasing Miley’s vocal and stylistic range. She continues pushing boundaries with the singles: “End of the World” is a disco-infused anthem about love during global collapse, while “More to Lose” is a cinematic ballad reflecting on the emotional aftermath of heartbreak.

Visual Album

To fully bring her vision to life, Miley created a 55-minute visual film titled Something Beautiful, premiering June 6, 2025, at the Tribeca Festival. Co-directed by Miley, Jacob Bixenman, and Brendan Walter, the film features visuals for each track. Inspired by Pink Floyd: The Wall, the visual album combines music videos into a continuous narrative that enhances the album’s themes and delivers an immersive experience—especially meaningful as Miley will not tour due to vocal cord issues.
