Nessa Barrett is entering a new era. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter has announced her third studio album, Tough Love, arriving September 25 via Warner Records, while also confirming that its lead single, “Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die,” will be released this Friday.
Barrett revealed the project through social media, writing, “Tough Love my third album is out september 25th. the first single, ‘Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die’ is out friday.” It’s confirmed that the album will feature 11 tracks, marking her first full-length release since 2024’s Aftercare.
The announcement comes just months after Barrett unveiled her EP Jesus loves a primadonna, an eight-track collection that explored toxic relationships, obsession, and emotional vulnerability through a dark blend of alternative rock, trip-hop, and cinematic pop. Released earlier this year, the project arrived alongside the visually striking video for “Buffalo 66,” starring The Neighbourhood frontman Jesse Rutherford.
Describing the EP upon its release, Barrett explained, “Jesus loves a primadonna is all about love. It’s beauty and demise. The villain origin story of every woman who has loved until she cannot love anymore.”
Tough Love will follow Barrett’s second studio album, Aftercare, which debuted in November 2024 and reached No. 98 on the Billboard 200. The record was later expanded with a deluxe edition featuring six additional songs and supported by the Aftercare World Tour, which included dates across North America, Europe, and Australia.
