Oliver Tree’s music is experiencing a major resurgence in the days following his tragic death. Across Spotify and YouTube, listeners have returned to some of his most recognizable songs, driving millions of additional streams and pushing several tracks back onto global charts.
The renewed interest follows the news that Tree died on June 14, 2026, at the age of 32 after a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The accident, which reportedly involved a mid-air collision between two helicopters, claimed the lives of six people and has prompted an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
Streaming platforms quickly reflected the outpouring of support from fans. On Spotify, “Life Goes On” re-entered the platform’s weekly chart at No. 50 with more than 15 million streams. The song, originally released as part of Ugly Is Beautiful, remains one of Tree’s most successful tracks and has enjoyed multiple viral moments since its debut.
“Miss You” also returned to the chart, landing at No. 101 with 11 million weekly streams. The track became a global phenomenon during the early 2020s and introduced Tree’s music to an entirely new audience through TikTok and streaming playlists.
YouTube has seen an even more dramatic reaction. On June 15, fans pushed “Life Goes On” to No. 1 on the U.S. Daily Music Videos chart and No. 2 globally. “Miss You” followed closely behind, reaching No. 3 in both the United States and worldwide rankings.
The surge extended well beyond those two hits. Seven additional videos from Tree’s catalog entered the U.S. Daily Music Videos chart, underscoring the breadth of his fan base and the lasting impact of his music. Comment sections across multiple videos have been flooded with tributes, memories, and messages celebrating his career.
Born Oliver Tree Nickell in Santa Cruz, California, Tree first broke through after the viral success of “When I’m Down” led to a deal with Atlantic Records in 2017. His debut album Ugly Is Beautiful arrived in July 2020 and peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard 200, producing enduring fan favorites such as “Life Goes On” and “Hurt.”
Subsequent projects showcased his willingness to experiment. Cowboy Tears reached No. 60 on the Billboard 200 in 2022, while Alone in a Crowd followed in 2023. His final studio album, Love You Madly Hate You Badly, was released on April 24, 2026 through Alien Boy Records, less than two months before his death.
