Olivia Prado has released her new EP Dirty In The Sand, a six-track project that explores attraction, intimacy, uncertainty and self-discovery through a blend of pop and contemporary R&B. The EP marks the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter’s first project following her 2024 debut album, Liv Laugh Love.
Prado frames Dirty In The Sand around the idea of getting your hands dirty, both literally and emotionally. Inspired by childhood memories of being free to play and explore, the title takes on a more adult meaning as Olivia examines what happens when people allow themselves to take risks in love and accept the complications that come with genuine connection.
“Dirty In The Sand isn’t just a cheeky innuendo—it’s about getting messy with life,” she explains. “Attraction, connection, doubt, heartbreak. Letting yourself fully experience it all.”
That emotional progression shapes the six-song EP. The project begins with the playful “Temptation,” followed by “Up n Down” and “Turn Me On,” before arriving at the title track, where Olivia Prado’s central metaphor comes fully into focus. “Ocean” shifts the mood toward something more reflective, while closing track “Is It Enough” leaves the project on its most vulnerable note.
Olivia describes the EP as a journey that moves from “flirty, playful, and adventurous” territory into feelings of self-consciousness, worry and yearning before reaching heartbreak. At the center of that progression is a question that becomes increasingly difficult to ignore: “Am I enough?”
The new project also reflects how Olivia Prado has approached her career as an independent artist. Rather than limiting herself to the recording booth, she has been involved in songwriting, creative direction, marketing, visuals and release strategy, giving her direct control over the world surrounding her music.
Raised in California’s Bay Area, Olivia developed an early connection to performance through singing, dancing and musical theater before beginning to write her own songs. A transformative year in Sydney during college, alongside the loss of her father, ultimately helped reshape her perspective and pushed her toward pursuing music professionally.
Now based in Los Angeles, Prado draws from the nostalgia of early-2000s pop while incorporating the intimacy and groove of contemporary R&B. Dirty In The Sand builds on the foundation established by Liv Laugh Love, expanding her focus on love and connection while allowing more room for uncertainty and emotional exposure.
