Mollie Elizabeth is continuing to build one of alternative pop’s most visually distinct emerging worlds. On May 20, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter released “Run Rabbit,” a haunting new single that arrives after weeks of momentum on TikTok, where snippets of the track had already begun circulating widely among users drawn to its eerie atmosphere and cinematic lyricism.

Released through Neon Gold Records and Futures Music, “Run Rabbit” was written by Mollie Elizabeth alongside Josh Murty, who also handled production. Beneath its whimsical melodies and storybook imagery, the song carries a much darker emotional core rooted in childhood instability and survival instincts shaped by difficult environments.

Speaking about the track, Elizabeth explained: “Run Rabbit, while a very whimsical song, is actually a darker look into what it was like growing up in an unhealthy household. There’s an indescribable feeling that comes along with the baggage of an imperfect childhood, one that begs the question, if you are excused for your immoral coping mechanisms because of your circumstance, or if it is your fault regardless.”

That tension between beauty and discomfort has quickly become central to Elizabeth’s artistic identity. Across the past year, the Pacific Northwest artist has carved out a niche that blends old-Hollywood aesthetics, gothic folk-pop textures, and emotionally confessional songwriting into what she describes as “tiny worlds.”

Earlier in 2026, Elizabeth expanded that universe through singles including “The Mirror,” “Dog Eat Dog,” and “The Disappearing Girl.” Each release pushed deeper into themes of vulnerability, emotional isolation, and human contradiction while maintaining the dreamy sonic palette that first introduced listeners to her music.

“Dog Eat Dog,” in particular, leaned heavily into darker philosophical territory. Elizabeth described the song as an exploration of predatory human behavior and the emotional conflict between idealism and reality. “In my nature, and I think in many others, all I really want to do is cultivate peace and love, but in reality, this world is not peaceful,” she said earlier this year. “There are people who will take advantage of you if you do not accept that whether you like it or not, we live in a dog eat dog world.”

Her creative momentum has accelerated rapidly since the release of debut EP Dirty Blonde. Elizabeth has also emerged as a notably hands-on creator behind the scenes. She co-produced portions of the EP and collaborated with writers and producers including Dean Reid, Madison Love, CJ Baran, and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter Casey Smith, whose credits include Olivia Rodrigo, Ashe, and Benson Boone.

Fans can now stream “Run Rabbit” across all major platforms.
