Olivia Rodrigo wastes no time rewriting the charts again. Her new single “Drop Dead” debuts at No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart, marking her fourth leader in the market and extending a run of instant-impact releases that has defined her career since 2021.

Released on April 17, “Drop Dead” arrives as the first single from her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, due in June. The track replaces “Rein Me In” by Sam Fender and Olivia Dean, which slips to No. 2 after five consecutive weeks at the summit and eight weeks total.

“Drop Dead” marks Rodrigo’s fourth No. 1 hit in the UK. “Drivers License” spent six weeks at No. 1 in 2021, “Good 4 U” followed with five, and “Vampire” added another chart-topper in 2023. With “Drop Dead,” Rodrigo maintains a 100% conversion rate when leading an album campaign in the UK.

Streaming data backs the momentum. The single opened with 10.709 million global streams on Spotify in its first day, debuting at No. 1 on the platform’s Global chart and delivering the biggest opening of her career. The song continued to amass millions of streams in its first week while consistently remaining in the top three.”

Elsewhere on the chart, Justin Bieber continues to benefit from his Coachella resurgence. “Beauty and a Beat,” his 2012 collaboration with Nicki Minaj, climbs to a new No. 3 peak, while former No. 1 “Daisies” rebounds into the Top 5.

Rodrigo’s rise in the UK mirrors her parallel success in Australia, where “Drop Dead” also debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. With the Billboard Hot 100 still pending, the single is positioned for a global sweep that could define the early phase of her next album cycle.

As anticipation builds toward the June 12 release of You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, “Drop Dead” has already set a high bar.
