This morning (Jan. 23), the Academy announced the nominees for the upcoming 2024 Oscar Awards, also known as the Academy Awards. Oppenheimer emerged as the top nominee with 13 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director (Christopher Nolan), Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), and Best Supporting Actress (Emily Blunt). Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon closely follow with 11 and 10 nominations, respectively.

Barbie garnered 8 nominations, but the film is also the subject of fans’ discussions due to snubs. In fact, Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig surprisingly failed to earn nominations for this year’s Oscar Awards. Another surprise is the absence of Dua Lipa’s name in the Best Original Song category. Two songs from the “Barbie” album scored nominations in the category, but “Dance The Night” was snubbed.
On the other hand, Diane Warren extended her record for the most Best Original Song nominations among women, while Billie Eilish, who won the statuette in 2022, received her second Oscar nomination. Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt are also two-time nominees, after winning in 2019 with “Shallow.”
