Perrie Edwards has spoken candidly about her fractured relationship with former Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson, revealing that hopes of repairing their friendship faded after watching Nelson’s 2026 documentary Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix.
Appearing on the Great Company with Jamie Laing podcast, Edwards reflected on the final years of Little Mix and pushed back against parts of the narrative presented in Nelson’s Prime Video docuseries, which offered the singer’s most detailed account yet of her departure from the group.
While careful not to portray Nelson as solely responsible for the breakdown, Edwards argued that accountability has been missing from the public conversation surrounding Little Mix’s split.
“I’m not saying she’s this f—ing monster, and everything was her fault,” Edwards said. “But take some accountability for your actions and realise that you were difficult, you had difficult moments, granted there was reasons for those moments, but you can only pick somebody up so many f—ing times before you start losing track of your own sanity.”
The comments arrive months after Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix debuted on Prime Video. In the documentary, Nelson discussed the emotional fallout that preceded her December 2020 departure from the group, claiming that another unnamed member had initially expressed a desire to leave before she did. She described feeling devastated by that revelation and admitted she struggled to process the situation at the time.
Nelson also opened up about severe mental health challenges, including panic attacks, and said she often felt unsupported while trying to explain what she was experiencing behind the scenes. She expressed regret for the way her exit unfolded, particularly after lawyers informed the other members before she had the opportunity to speak with them personally.
For Edwards, however, the documentary reopened wounds rather than helping to heal them. “So then to sit there in interviews and be like ‘I wasn’t supported’… you were though,” she said on the podcast.
The singer went on to reveal that she had once considered rebuilding her friendship with Nelson despite years of distance following the split. “Part of me wanted to rekindle the friendship,” Edwards admitted. “Until the documentary, and then part of me withdrew again.”
Little Mix officially became a trio following Nelson’s exit in late 2020, with Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall continuing together before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2022. Since then, all four members have pursued solo careers while largely avoiding detailed public discussions about the circumstances surrounding the split.
