Sabrina Carpenter is making it clear she has no time for criticism about how often artists should release music. In a new conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the singer addressed those who say she puts out albums too quickly. Her answer was sharp, confident, and direct: “If you’re not ready to hear the music, don’t press play. Just listen in a couple of years or listen when you’re ready.”

The 26-year-old pop star has had a whirlwind few years. Following the Grammy-winning success of Short n’ Sweet, she returned this summer with her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, which is on track to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has already produced the chart-topping single “Manchild” as well as Spotify’s No. 1 hit “Tears.” Before the success of Short n’ Sweet and Man’s Best Friend, Sabrina had her breakthrough in 2022 with Emails I Can’t Send, an album that significantly propelled her career, thanks to viral hits like “Nonsense” and “Feather.” The record marked the first step toward the music she truly wanted to make.
This is not the first time Sabrina has addressed outside noise. Just earlier this week, she spoke about the reaction to her Man’s Best Friend album cover, which sparked intense debate online. While some critics questioned its provocative imagery, the pop superstar emphasized that her intent was always clear to her fans and inner circle. “My parents actually saw the photo and they loved it,” she said.
