Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have officially rewritten the UK chart record books. Their hit collaboration “Rein Me In” remains at No. 1 on the Official UK Singles Chart for a 16th week, becoming the longest-running chart-topper ever by a British act.
The milestone ends a record that had stood for more than three decades. With 16 non-consecutive weeks at the summit since first reaching No. 1 in June 2025, “Rein Me In” surpasses Wet Wet Wet’s “Love Is All Around,” which spent 15 consecutive weeks atop the chart in 1994 following its appearance in Four Weddings and a Funeral.
The achievement also sees Fender and Dean draw level with Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” which spent 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 1991. While Adams still holds the record for the longest uninterrupted run, “Rein Me In” has now matched that historic total through multiple returns to the summit.
Only one record now remains ahead of the duo. Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” continues to hold the all-time UK benchmark with 18 weeks at No. 1, a feat established in 1953 that has remained untouched for more than 70 years.
Originally released on June 20, 2025, “Rein Me In” is a reimagined version of the song from Fender’s third studio album People Watching. The duet quickly resonated with listeners thanks to the chemistry between Fender’s heartfelt songwriting and Dean’s soulful vocal performance, eventually becoming his first UK No. 1 single.
The song has since evolved into one of the defining British hits of the decade. Earlier this year, it won Song of the Year at the Brit Awards. Internationally, it became Fender’s first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching No. 64.
