Sia has reportedly sold a 50% stake in her music catalog to entertainment and investment company Pophouse for $180 million, according to TMZ. The reported deal would give Pophouse a significant share of the Australian singer-songwriter’s body of work.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the transaction covers half of Sia’s catalog for the reported $180 million price tag. The economics of the agreement are complicated by Sia’s recent divorce from Dan Bernad, with the financial structure of the transaction involving considerations connected to the separation.

The reported valuation puts Sia’s songwriting and recording work among the latest high-profile music assets to attract major institutional investment. Pophouse has increasingly built its business around acquiring music and entertainment rights, with catalog ownership offering investors long-term exposure to songs that can continue generating revenue through streaming, licensing, publishing and other uses.

For Sia, the catalog represents more than a decade of increasingly influential work. Her fourth studio album, Some People Have Real Problems, arrived in 2008, followed by We Are Born in 2010. Both albums earned gold certifications in Australia and helped expand her profile beyond the alternative-pop audience that had followed her earlier releases.

Her career took another turn when she stepped away from performing and concentrated on songwriting for other artists. During that period, she co-wrote or contributed to major hits including David Guetta’s “Titanium,” Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones” and Beyoncé’s “Pretty Hurts,” establishing herself as one of pop’s most in-demand behind-the-scenes writers.

That songwriting success eventually fed into one of the biggest eras of her own career. 1000 Forms of Fear debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2014 and produced “Chandelier,” a global hit whose striking videos featuring Maddie Ziegler became closely associated with Sia’s artistic identity. The singer followed it with This Is Acting in 2016, which generated her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 as a lead artist with “Cheap Thrills.”

Sia continued expanding her catalog with Everyday Is Christmas in 2017 and the collaborative project LSD with Labrinth and Diplo in 2019. Her most recent studio album, Reasonable Woman, arrived in 2024, extending a discography that has moved between pop, electronic music, songwriting and soundtrack work.
