Spotify is making music discovery more interactive with the launch of Talk to Spotify, a new beta feature that allows eligible Premium subscribers to chat with the streaming platform using either voice or text. The update introduces conversational AI directly inside the Spotify app, helping users find music, podcasts, audiobooks, and personalized recommendations without leaving the listening experience.
Initially available to Premium users aged 18 and older in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden, the feature is rolling out in English across iOS and Android devices. Instead of relying solely on search or playlists, listeners can now have natural back-and-forth conversations with Spotify to refine recommendations, build queues, and learn more about the content they’re enjoying.
According to Spotify, users can make requests like “Play some artists I haven’t heard before,” then continue narrowing the results by saying “Add some Bad Bunny” or “Make it more upbeat.” Once they find something they like, they can immediately ask Spotify to save the song, follow the artist, or add the track to their queue.
The experience extends beyond music. While listening to an album, users can ask questions such as “What inspired Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism?” or “When was this album released?” Podcast and audiobook listeners can also request additional information about authors, guests, and related content without interrupting playback.
Spotify is also turning the feature into a personalized listening companion by letting subscribers explore their own streaming history. Questions like “When did I first listen to this song?” or “What genres have I been into recently?” tap directly into each user’s listening habits, offering a new way to revisit favorite artists, playlists, and musical eras.
For now, only a limited group of subscribers can access the experience.
