Tame Impala’s “Dracula” took on a life of its own after JENNIE joined Kevin Parker for the remix, transforming an already successful song into a global hit. In a new Variety interview, Parker explained that he had always imagined a female vocalist on the track and believed JENNIE could bring a particular energy to the song.

“This song came out and it did unbelievably better than I ever dreamt it was going to, the charts and everything which was a first for me, I was stoked,” Parker said. “But for me, I was always like thinking about the fact that I always thought it needed a female singer.”

The idea was not simply about adding another voice to an existing track. Parker specifically saw JENNIE’s background as a K-pop star as a way to introduce a different personality into “Dracula,” describing her contribution as something that could give the song “this spirit, that sort of playfulness.”

Released on February 6, 2026, the JENNIE version kept the core instrumental arrangement of “Dracula” while adding her vocals, new songwriting contributions and a fresh rap verse. Her appearance arrives midway through the track, with layered vocals across the chorus and verses before she takes a more direct rap approach with the newly added section.

The collaboration also changed the commercial trajectory of the song. A viral TikTok trend helped “Dracula” surge months after its initial release, eventually pushing the remix to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The achievement gave both Tame Impala and JENNIE their first top 10 hit on the chart, while JENNIE became the second BLACKPINK member to reach the Hot 100’s top 10 as a solo artist after Rosé.

JENNIE’s involvement extended beyond the recording. She debuted the song live at ComplexCon Hong Kong on March 22 before taking it to Governors Ball, Roskilde, Open’er, Mad Cool and Lollapalooza. On July 29, she finally joined Tame Impala onstage in Boston during the Deadbeat Tour, giving the collaboration its first live performance together.
