After wrapping up her sold-out Miss Possessive Tour in Los Angeles, Tate McRae had one final surprise for fans — the announcement of the deluxe edition of her third studio album, So Close To What. The new version, aptly titled So Close To What???, arrives on November 21, marking the perfect end to what’s already been a landmark year for the 22-year-old pop star.

The deluxe release follows an intense year of touring that saw McRae performing across Europe and North America, delivering 83 high-energy shows. Her stop at the Kia Forum on November 8 served as both a tour finale and the perfect moment to reveal the expanded edition of her critically acclaimed album. The original So Close To What, which arrived earlier this year, was a massive success — spawning hit singles such as “Sports Car” and “Revolving Door,” and becoming Tate’s first No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Despite her demanding tour schedule, the newly Grammy-nominated singer has remained creatively unstoppable. Throughout the year, she shared glimpses from the studio, hinting at new songs in progress. In September 2025, she released the viral single “TIT FOR TAT,” a biting track widely interpreted as a response to her breakup with rapper The Kid Laroi.

Adding to the anticipation, Ryan Tedder — Grammy-winning producer and longtime collaborator — recently praised McRae’s new music. “There’s one record that’s the most innuendo track I’ve been a part of in forever. I listen and blush,” Tedder revealed in an interview. “I’m like, ‘Oh god, let’s see if we can get away with it.’ Some of Tate’s stuff [is sexy] because I’m working with an artist who’s in her early 20s, and she has a very sexy presence, exudes femininity, and is living her life.

While McRae has yet to confirm how many new songs the deluxe edition will include, she teased on social media that it will serve as a proper closing to the So Close To What era. “We had a few more songs that I wanted to share with y’all to close out the SC2W era,” she wrote. “I can’t wait for you to hear.”
