Tate McRae is closing out her memorable year with the deluxe edition of her third album So Close to What, arriving this Friday, November 21. Ahead of the release, the Canadian sensation shared a handwritten message to fans — and a major hint about what they can expect. The note was written during the European leg of the Miss Possessive Tour at “5 AM in Prague.” The pop star was in the city last June and, in the handwritten letter, she reveals that she has finally found the creative direction for So Close to What???, the deluxe edition of her chart-topping album. “I’ve been on tour for so long and I feel outside of my body,” she wrote. “I’ve been writing a lot of poetry and in my journal. Seems to be the only place I feel certain right now. Oh, and angel signs are following me everywhere…”
The previously unseen message arrives just days after McRae wrapped her sold-out Miss Possessive Tour in Los Angeles. The run, which spanned 83 shows across Europe and North America, marked her most ambitious stage production to date.

The original album became a defining moment in McRae’s career. Released earlier this year, So Close to What earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced multiple hits, including “Sports Car” and the fan-favorite “Revolving Door.” Its success also propelled McRae into the Grammy conversation, securing her first nomination.
Despite a grueling tour schedule, the 22-year-old singer has continued writing throughout the year, sharing glimpses of late-night studio sessions. In September, she dropped “TIT FOR TAT,” a sharp-edged viral single widely seen as a response to her public breakup with The Kid Laroi.
Collaborator Ryan Tedder recently teased the direction of the deluxe edition, hinting at bold lyrical choices and McRae’s increasingly confident storytelling. “There’s one record that’s the most innuendo track I’ve been a part of in forever,” he said, noting her ability to navigate themes of sensuality and self-discovery with striking maturity. While McRae has yet to confirm tracklist details, she promised fans that the deluxe edition will serve as the proper conclusion to the So Close to What era. “We had a few more songs that I wanted to share with y’all to close out the SC2W era,” she wrote.
