Tate McRae has fans convinced a new chapter is about to begin. Ahead of headlining performances at Osheaga and Lollapalooza, the Canadian pop star shared a striking new Instagram post featuring a sleek photoshoot and the simple caption: “Montreal. Chicago. See u soon.”
Although the message was brief, it immediately fueled speculation that Tate McRae is preparing to unveil a fresh musical era during two of the biggest festivals of the summer. The minimalist post, paired with polished new visuals, prompted thousands of reactions within minutes as fans searched for clues about what could be next.
Commenters quickly interpreted the upload as more than a routine tour update. “WE ARE READYYY,” one fan wrote, while another declared, “A NEW ERA!!!!!!!!” Others pointed to the noticeably different styling and aesthetic, suggesting the singer may be teasing new music, a rebrand, or the first glimpse of her next project.
The timing has only intensified the excitement. McRae is scheduled to headline the Bell River Stage at Osheaga in Montreal on August 1 before traveling to Chicago for a marquee performance at Lollapalooza, which runs from July 30 through August 2 in Grant Park.
Any new material would follow one of the biggest eras of her career. Her third studio album, So Close to What, arrived on February 21, 2025, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and becoming her first chart-topping album in the United States. The project blended pop, dance-pop, R&B, and power pop across tracks including “It’s OK I’m OK,” “2 Hands,” “Sports Car,” and “Revolving Door.”
Momentum continued throughout the year with the release of the deluxe edition, So Close to What???, on November 21, 2025. The expanded project featured additional songs, including the Billboard Hot 100 top-five hit “Tit for Tat,” while the accompanying Miss Possessive Tour became the first arena tour of Tate McRae’s career.
