Tate McRae has scored another major streaming milestone as “Housewife” debuts at No. 1 on Spotify’s Weekly Global Chart with 39.1 million streams for the October 16–22 tracking week. The single dethrones Karol G’s “BbY WOW” and gives Tate McRae her first weekly chart-topper on the platform in nearly three years, marking the strongest opening week of her career.
The achievement follows an already record-breaking first day for “Housewife,” which was released October 15 as the lead single from McRae’s forthcoming fourth studio album. The track opened at No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Global Chart with 5.671 million streams, surpassing the debut of “Tit for Tat,” which previously set her personal record with 4.13 million first-day plays after opening at No. 5. With more than 39.1 million streams in its first week, “Housewife” has now established a new benchmark for the Canadian pop star.

Tate McRae’s return to the weekly summit comes after “greedy” last reached No. 1 during the weeks ending December 29, 2023, and January 4, 2024. The hit recorded 33.8 million streams during the latter period as listeners returned to regular listening habits after the Christmas holidays. Nearly three years later, “Housewife” surpasses that weekly total by more than five million streams, though “greedy” retains her peak streaming week, tallying 40.2 million streams in November 2023.
Karol G’s “BbY WOW,” featuring Judeline and rusowsky, falls to No. 2 with 35.98 million streams, adding approximately 312,000 plays during its tenth week on the chart. ADÉLA occupies the next two positions, with “Nicole Kidman” at No. 3 after earning 32.19 million streams and “Ain’t In LA” at No. 4 with 26.20 million. Olivia Rodrigo’s “the cure” holds No. 5 with 24.28 million streams, while her collaboration with Chappell Roan, “expectations,” debuts at No. 6 with 23.60 million.
Ashe’s “Stop The Wedding!” remains at No. 7 after adding more than 2.1 million streams, followed by Malcolm Todd’s “Earrings” at No. 8 and Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” at No. 9. Rodrigo closes the top 10 with “stupid song,” giving her two entries among the week’s most-streamed tracks globally.
Tate McRae also returns to the chart with “Sports Car,” which re-enters at No. 199.
The success of “Housewife” extends beyond Spotify. Its music video accumulated over 12 million YouTube views during its first week. Directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti and filmed in the south of France, the visual uses luxury estates, yacht scenes and choreography to frame the song’s playful challenge to traditional expectations of domestic life. Tate McRae has described the track as being about “a woman who can’t be contained,” a theme reflected in its lyrics about financial independence and personal freedom.
