Taylor Swift has once again made streaming history. The pop icon has officially become the first female artist in Spotify’s history to have three albums with over 10 billion streams each. Her 2020 indie-folk record Folklore is the latest to join the exclusive club, alongside Lover (2019) and Midnights (2022).

Released at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Folklore marked a creative shift, embracing a softer, more introspective style, departing from the previous pop albums Lover and Reputation. Carried by the success of “Cardigan,” “Exile,” and “The 1”, which quickly became fan favorites, Folklore earned Taylor widespread acclaim for its storytelling and stripped-back production. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went on to win the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2021. Riding the wave of that success, a few months after the release of Folklore, Taylor unleashed the so-called ‘sister album’ Evermore, which continued the success of the previous album, earning Taylor a back-to-back Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

Now, with Folklore crossing 10 billion streams on Spotify, Taylor Swift joins an elite group of artists that boast three projects surpassing this benchmark. However, she is on track to make history again very soon as Reputation is just 500 million streams away from hitting 10 billion.
