Spotify’s Countdown Pages have transformed album rollouts into a public competition, giving fans a real-time look at which upcoming releases are generating the most anticipation before they even arrive. From Taylor Swift and BTS to Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, and KATSEYE, millions of listeners are now hitting the pre-save button weeks before release day.
Introduced through Spotify for Artists, Countdown Pages allow musicians to create dedicated hubs for upcoming albums. Fans can pre-save a project so it automatically appears in their library at launch, preview the tracklist, watch exclusive teaser videos, browse merchandise, and follow a live countdown until release. The feature has become one of the platform’s biggest promotional tools, with Spotify’s Upcoming Releases hub displaying a live Top 10 ranking of the most pre-saved albums worldwide.
According to Spotify, albums with Countdown Pages published at least seven days before release nearly double their average pre-save totals. More than 60% of listeners who pre-save an album stream it during release week, while roughly one in seven becomes a long-term superfan by the end of that first week.
Leading the all-time ranking is Taylor Swift with her recent album The Life of a Showgirl, setting the current benchmark for the platform. BTS follows closely behind with ARIRANG.
