The release extends the momentum behind “Patient Zero,” which has quickly become one of the defining hits of Swift’s Showgirl era. The original track debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning her 16th chart-topper and tying Drake for the most No. 1 debuts in the chart’s history, with 10 apiece.

Both new recordings arrive as the song holds the summit for a second consecutive week. “Patient Zero” is one of four new tracks featured on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, released September 25 as a deluxe edition of Taylor Swift’s 2025 album. The other additions also made a major impact on the Hot 100, with “Cleveland!” debuting at No. 3, “Babylon” at No. 4 and “Pink Clouding” at No. 5.

The original single’s success has added another milestone to Swift’s already historic chart record. “Patient Zero” marks her third Hot 100 No. 1 of the year, following “Opalite” and “I Knew It, I Knew You.” She becomes the first artist since Kendrick Lamar in 2024 to score three new No. 1s in a single calendar year, and the first woman to accomplish the feat since Ariana Grande in 2020.

Meanwhile, The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore has spent a second consecutive week atop the Billboard 200, making Taylor Swift the first soloist to reach 100 weeks at No. 1 on the albums chart.

“Patient Zero” is also maintaining its international success, holding at No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart for a second consecutive week.
