Taylor Swift consistently amasses millions of streams on Spotify daily. Her discography features an array of timeless songs that remain staples in thousands of playlists. On August 12, at 12:12 a.m., the pop icon delighted fans by announcing her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. While Taylor hasn’t shared further details—only teasing a green cover art—it was enough to ignite excitement, leading to a significant increase in streams across her catalog.
On the Daily Global Spotify Chart, she landed four songs: “August,” which re-entered the chart earlier this month and is currently sitting at No. 69 with 1.716 million streams; “Cruel Summer,” which re-entered the top 100, rising from No. 106 to No. 78 with over 1.6 million streams; and two notable returns from her 1989 era—“Style” at No. 150 and “Blank Space” at No. 166. In addition, Taylor returned to the top of Spotify’s Artist Chart, dethroning Bad Bunny after several weeks.

The announcement of her 12th body of work quickly sent fans into a frenzy. The 35-year-old singer made a surprise appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, where she revealed only the album’s title. Fans were quick to share their theories about The Life of a Showgirl, which is believed to drop sometime between September and the first half of October. Notably, producer Max Martin appears to be returning to the project, marking his first collaboration with Taylor since Reputation, one of her most defining albums.
The Life of a Showgirl comes hot on the heels of The Tortured Poets Department, which dropped in April 2025 and featured the smash hit “Fortnight” with Post Malone. Swift’s most recent album was one of her most introspective and lyrically rich projects. Announced during her Grammy acceptance speech, TTPD shattered streaming records and sold over 2.6 million units in its first week in the U.S. alone, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
