Taylor Swift has broken yet another record — this time with her new single, “The Fate of Ophelia.” The opening track from her twelfth studio album The Life of a Showgirl has officially become the biggest streaming debut in Spotify’s history, surpassing her own previous record set by “Fortnight” last year.
In less than a day, “The Fate of Ophelia” logged more than 25.2 million streams on its first day, with time still left to add to its total.

The milestone arrives alongside equally historic numbers for The Life of a Showgirl, released on October 3 through Republic Records. In less than 12 hours, the project became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2025, earning more than 140 million opening-day streams. It also shattered the platform’s all-time pre-save record, surpassing the benchmark set by The Tortured Poets Department, and became the first album to cross five million pre-saves.
This latest wave of achievements underscores Swift’s enduring dominance as both a chart force and cultural phenomenon. Just months after concluding her record-breaking Eras Tour — the highest-grossing tour in history — she has managed to translate the live-show momentum into streaming supremacy.
Beyond Spotify, The Life of a Showgirl has already topped iTunes and Apple Music charts worldwide, while physical editions, including limited vinyl runs, have sold out across multiple retailers. Swift is also promoting the project through Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, a special theatrical event screening globally from October 3–5, which includes music videos, lyric visuals, and her personal commentary.
