In September, we were treated to several notable new releases. Many superstars unleashed new albums, from Doja Cat (Vie) and Cardi B (Am I the Drama?) to Mariah Carey (Here for It All) and Justin Bieber (Swag II). We also witnessed several major returns. Madison Beer began the rollout for her third studio album with the lead single “Yes Baby,” while Ed Sheeran kicked off his new symbol series with the album Play, featuring the heartfelt single “Camera.” Meanwhile, Twenty One Pilots closed their Clancy series with Breach.
September was also a month full of surprises. Tate McRae and The Kid Laroi took the spotlight with back-to-back diss tracks following their breakup. The Canadian singer struck a chord with fans with “Tit for Tat,” a response to Laroi’s “A Cold Play” — a song many speculated was aimed at Tate. We also enjoyed new music from Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Olivia Dean, and Miley Cyrus.
As every month, we gathered the 16 most defining songs of September and invited fans to vote for their favorite through an Instagram poll. The results showed a clear winner: Tate McRae’s “Tit for Tat.” It marked the third time this year that the Canadian star claimed the best song of the month, following “Sports Car” (February) and “Just Keep Watching” (May). After tallying votes from each round, we’ve compiled the top 16 songs of September 2025.
