The Recording Academy revealed the nominations for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on Friday, November 10, scheduled for February 4, 2024. SZA emerged as the top-nominated artist, with nine nominations. While familiar names like Taylor Swift, Jon Batiste, and Billie Eilish continued to shine, many artists celebrated their first-ever Grammy nominations, including Victoria Monét, who is the second most-nominated artist this year. Among the notable first-time nominees are Gracie Abrams, Troye Sivan, and Madison Beer.
The excitement among the nominated artists spilled over onto social media.
Victoria Monét, with seven nominations, expressed her joy through a video reacting to each nomination during the live announcement. She wrote on social media, “I am in complete shock and total gratitude for what has happened for us today!!!! Thank you SOO much @recordingacademy!!”
The 66th Annual Grammy nominations have witnessed a significant dominance by female artists, with Miley Cyrus standing out with six nominations. Cyrus, reflecting on this milestone, expressed her pride: “Watching women rule the music industry makes me proud,” she wrote, “It’s fun to be nominated & exciting to win but having my music LOVED around the world is the real trophy.”
For Gracie Abrams, 2023 was an exceptional year. Following the release of her debut album “Good Riddance” and a stint as a supporting act for Taylor Swift, she earned her first Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Gracie shared her emotions with a captioned pic, saying, “What is happening.” She also mentioned sharing the news with Taylor Swift, saying, “I talked to Taylor, and we were just screaming at each other over text like, lots of all-cap: Holy f-king s—t.”
Dua Lipa, fresh from the release of her single “Houdini,” celebrated two Grammy nominations (Song of the Year, Best Song Written For Visual Media) and expressed her joy on Instagram, writing, “10 MILLION VIEWS ON HOUDINI IN LESS THAN 24HRS AND 2 GRAMMY NOMS FOR DANCE THE NIGHT!!!! WHAT A DAY.”
Madison Beer received her first Grammy nomination for Best Audio Immersive Album with “Silence Between Songs.” Overwhelmed, she shared her disbelief on social media, writing, “No words, only tears.”
Troye Sivan, riding high on his new album “Something To Give Each Other,” received two Grammy nominations, calling it a “life-long dream” on social media. His album’s lead single, “Rush,” earned nominations for Best Pop Dance Recording and Best Music Video.
Lana Del Rey secured five nominations, including Album of the Year with “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” and Song of the Year with “A&W.” Expressing her surprise on Instagram, Lana shared, “I woke up so surprised. I’m very excited about these Grammy nominations, five.” This marks Lana’s return to the Grammy spotlight since 2020.
Olivia Rodrigo, nominated for the second consecutive year, received six nominations, including Record of the Year with “Vampire” and Album of the Year with “GUTS.” After winning three Grammy Awards last edition, Olivia expressed her gratitude, saying, “What an incredible honor to be recognized by the Recording Academy in this way. Grateful is an understatement!!!!!”
Jon Batiste, last year’s top nominee, received six nominations this year, discovering the news while changing his hairstyle.
Other artists such as Billie Eilish, Kylie Minogue, and Boygenius also shared their joy at receiving Grammy nominations.
