Zara Larsson is extending the life of Midnight Sun with a bold new twist. The Swedish pop star announced Midnight Sun: Girls Trip, a deluxe reimagining of her 2025 album, set for release on May 1, 2026, via Epic Records and Sommer House.

Rather than adding a handful of bonus tracks, Larsson is rebuilding the project from the ground up. Girls Trip features all 10 songs from Midnight Sun reworked with all-female collaborations, turning the original record into what she has described as a “motherquake”—a high-energy, celebratory reinterpretation rooted in female pop synergy. Guest names remain officially undisclosed, though early speculation points to artists like PinkPantheress, Doechii, Demi Lovato, and Tyla.

Conceptually, the project draws clear inspiration from Charli XCX’s remix-driven approach to Brat, reframing an already cohesive album into something more communal and dynamic. Larsson’s version leans into a “girls trip” theme, positioning the release as a summer-ready soundtrack.

The original Midnight Sun, released on September 26, 2025, marked a significant step in Larsson’s career. Built alongside frequent collaborator MNEK and producers including Margo XS, Zhone, and Helena Gao, the album balanced polished pop production with more introspective songwriting. The ten-track set debuted at No. 1 in Sweden—her third chart-topper in her home country—and reached the top 20 in multiple European markets.

The title track “Midnight Sun” earned a nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, her first career nomination. Singles like “Pretty Ugly” and “Crush” helped define the era, supported by the Midnight Sun Tour.
