Drake is sharing one final message before the release of FEAR OF MISSING OUT. The rapper posted a lengthy statement on Instagram Monday (Sept. 14), describing the upcoming release as “self funded surrealism” and encouraging listeners to make the most of their time, relationships and creative ambitions.

This is self funded surrealism,” Drake wrote. “A story about making the absolute most of it all in one summer.” He then credited “nobody but the members” before offering a series of reflections on independence, trust and taking action.

“Nobody is coming to save you,” Drake continued. “You must use each day to decipher who you love and trust and march forward with them.” The message quickly shifted from a description of the project into something resembling a personal manifesto, with Drake urging fans to make the decisions they have been putting off.

I hope this serves as motivation to make that call, take that trip, drop that song, open that shop, see your parents, leave that relationship or stay in it forever, spend the bread, get some more etc.,” he wrote.

The statement also directly addresses the current conversation around rap and the role of music videos. “They keep saying our genre is dying / Videos don’t matter / Nobody is watching nobody is listening,” Drake wrote. Rather than accepting that narrative, he made his position clear: “I still care. As much as I did on the set of Best I Ever Had.” Drake closed the message with “So be kind and rewind.”

FEAR OF MISSING OUT will arrive September 15 as a “not so short film,” according to Drake’s previous announcement. The 24-second teaser released alongside the reveal showed a lime-green speedboat racing across the water before cutting to the project’s title, while footage captured days earlier had shown Drake aboard what appeared to be the same boat during a nighttime production.

The rollout began August 21, when Drake posted an image of a CD jewel case featuring the FEAR OF MISSING OUT title and a camera emoji. On September 3, he confirmed that something carrying the title would premiere on YouTube at 9 p.m. ET on Sept. 15, although he initially left its format unexplained.

That mystery has now become part of the project itself. Drake has not revealed whether the film will feature one new song, several tracks or previously unreleased material.

The timing follows an especially active year for Drake. ICEMAN, Habibti and Maid of Honour all debuted inside the top three of the Billboard 200, with ICEMAN opening at No. 1 with 463,000 equivalent album units. The project has since surpassed 2 billion Spotify streams, while Drake has continued teasing additional music and creative work, including his August comment that “the pen isn’t dry.”
