Lil Wayne did not take the stage for the opening night of his 20 Years of Carter Classics Tour on June 30, leaving thousands of fans at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor without the advertised headlining performance. No official explanation had been provided by the rapper, his team, or tour promoters immediately after the show ended.
The evening initially unfolded as planned. Doors opened at 5:30 p.m., with music beginning around 7 p.m., and special guest 2 Chainz performed his scheduled set before fans waited for Wayne, who was expected to appear around 10:45 p.m. Instead, shortly after 11 p.m., attendees were informed that the concert was over and that Lil Wayne would not be performing.
The announcement sparked immediate frustration among concertgoers. As of publication, neither the rapper nor his management has publicly addressed the cancellation, and no official reason has been confirmed.
The missed performance comes as Wayne launches the 20 Years of Carter Classics Tour, an extension of last year’s Tha Carter VI Tour celebrating two decades of his iconic Carter album series. The expanded run was announced in March and is scheduled to continue through October 23, 2026, with 2 Chainz and The Game appearing on select dates.
The original Tha Carter VI Tour supported Wayne’s latest studio album, Tha Carter VI, which arrived on June 6, 2025. That campaign included 36 dates across North America, beginning with his first-ever solo headlining concert at Madison Square Garden on the album’s release day.
