Megan Thee Stallion has a new seasonal ambition: she wants summer to belong to her the way Christmas belongs to Mariah Carey. In a new InStyle cover story, the Houston rapper revealed her plan to make June 21 — the official start of summer — synonymous with Megan Thee Stallion.
“I love Mariah Carey. Mariah is Christmas,” Megan told InStyle. “As soon as November starts, we just hear Mariah hit that high note. Boom. That’s her s**t. Me, June 21st. As soon as summer starts, boom, it’s Megan. I’m not playing.”
The comparison points to the kind of cultural imprint Megan wants to build around her music. Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has become an annual holiday phenomenon, returning to the charts every winter and turning its opening notes into an unmistakable marker of the season. Megan is envisioning a similar tradition for summer, with June 21 serving as her personal musical kickoff.
Her timing could align with the next major phase of her career. Megan recently announced a distribution partnership between her Hot Girl Productions imprint and Interscope Records, confirming that Act III, the third installment of her current album trilogy, is officially on the way.
The agreement allows Megan The Stallion to retain ownership of her masters and publishing while using Interscope’s global distribution and promotional infrastructure. She emphasized that maintaining independence and control over her catalog remains a priority after years of building Hot Girl Productions around her own creative vision.
“HOT GIRL PRODUCTIONS x INTERSCOPE RECORDS. NEW LEVEL UNLOCKED,” Megan wrote when announcing the partnership. “Owning my masters & publishing and maintaining my independence as an artist is always my priority.”
The rapper has been gradually increasing the pressure around Act III after months of relative silence. On February 15, her birthday, she asked fans to drop blue hearts if they were ready for the project, revealing that she had been “hiding from everybody” while focusing on finishing the album.
Act III will conclude the trilogy that began with Megan in June 2024. The self-titled album marked her first full-length project after leaving her previous label arrangements, while Megan: Act II followed in October 2024 with additional material that expanded the story. The new album also arrives after Megan’s 2025 single “Lover Girl,” which debuted inside the Billboard Hot 100’s top 40.
