Tory Lanez is set to release his new album tonight. The Canadian rapper and singer will drop the double album MADE YOU THINK I WAS GONE… BUT on July 17, 2026, continuing an unusually prolific run of music while serving his prison sentence.
The announcement arrived through Lanez’s social media channels alongside pre-save links and the message: “DISC 1: RAP. DISC 2: R&B.” He also teased the release with the caption, “MADE YOU THINK I WAS GONE…BUT 7.17.”
The new album is divided into two distinct halves that reflect the two sides of Lanez’s artistry. Disc 1, Fargo’s Revenge, focuses on rap, while Disc 2, Fargo’s Heartbreak, leans into his signature R&B sound. The cover artwork features a suited figure photographed from behind with its head completely wrapped in red fabric, an image many fans have interpreted as referencing the prison stabbing Tory Lanez survived in May 2025.
The release follows an intense period of activity for the artist. Since receiving a 10-year prison sentence in 2023 in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case, Lanez has continued recording and releasing music from behind bars. MADE YOU THINK I WAS GONE… BUT arrives just months after LOL: Slutty Bass, released in April 2026, and a year after Peterson, making it his third album in just over 12 months.
Unlike Peterson, which featured appearances from collaborators including Max B, Davo and members of Lanez’s family, the new album appears largely centered on his own performances.
