JAEHYUN has officially returned with new music. The NCT star released his latest solo single, “99 Degrees,” on July 10 through SM Entertainment, arriving alongside an emotional music video that highlights one of his most personal releases to date.
The ballad is now available on all major streaming platforms.
Unlike a traditional power ballad, “99 Degrees” unfolds gradually. Gentle piano melodies introduce the track before expanding into a cinematic arrangement that eventually strips back once again, allowing JAEHYUN’s warm, expressive vocals to take center stage. He also contributed to both the song’s lyrics and composition, adding a personal touch to the release.
Built around the metaphor of love existing at 99 degrees—just one degree below boiling—the song explores the idea that people are not completed by perfection, but by one another.
The accompanying music video reinforces those themes. Throughout the visual, JAEHYUN revisits places tied to old memories while reflecting on moments that shaped him. Instead of dwelling on the past, the story follows his gradual acceptance of imperfection and his decision to move forward, creating a quietly emotional companion piece to the song.
Speaking about the release, JAEHYUN shared: “I’m happy to finally share ‘99 Degrees’, a song I worked on with a lot of love. I hope listeners can also feel the beauty of finding something complete within imperfection. May this song bring a little comfort to Czennies and everyone who listens, and I hope you all have a healthy and happy summer.”
The new single continues a solo catalog that has steadily expanded over the past few years. His debut album J introduced a refined blend of R&B and pop, while songs including “Forever Only,” “Horizon,” and “Unconditional” showcased different sides of his vocal style, ranging from wistful ballads to jazz-influenced grooves.
